"An Oregon-based company has been selected to build a skatepark in the city of Oconomowoc.

The council on March 2 approved Evergreen Skateparks to design and build the skatepark behind the outfield fence of the baseball field at Roosevelt Park.

Earlier this year, the common council approved $125,000 in the 2021 budget to be used for the skatepark if an additional $200,000 in private donations could be raised. Craig Schiefelbein, who is on the community skatepark committee, said $150,000 has already been raised.

Schiefelbein, who will personally donate $50,000 to the project, said he will push to raise $250,000 instead of $200,000 "so maybe we can have some additional features."

According to city documents, one of Evergreen's goals for the skatepark is to create a park "that is fun for both beginners and experts while also pleasing to the eye."
